Satuday Night Out: The Schweinfurt Festival

After dinner, we walked just a few blocks away to an open field area where Schweinfurt was having one of its many festivals. There were about 20 large picnic tables set up. They had a food booth and a couple of drink booths. At the front of the festival area, a stage and dj area served as our main focal point. The event started at 7:00pm, we arrived at around 8:30 and about 50 people were there. By night fall, around 10pm the crowd had easily doubled. Saturday night was themed "Oldies Night" and the dj played mostly old American songs. At first young girls and older folks twirled and swung eachother around the stage.
Then, after sunset, the stage transformed into a smoke-machine-filled, multicolored light show. The dancing crowd got younger and rowdier. One highlight was when the dj played ACDC's "Highway To Hell". yowza. The crowd went wild jumping up and down, hands in the air. Other extremely popular songs were, the "YMCA" song, "Sweet Home Alabama", and "The Eye of the Tiger". Amy and I were laughing our arses off!
I look like I have a halo. We tried to get Amy with a halo in the next couple shots, but for some reason it didn't work. ;)

While we drank our wiessen, radlers, and russians, Blake busied himself with trying to build a card house out of the drink coasters. After several semi-successful attempts, Rainer gave him a hand.
