I did it. I got my American butt on the bus and into town. The stop is two blocks away from Amy's apartment, and the ride took about 15 minutes. Throughout the day, I asked people if they spoke English, two did, two could a little, and the other three not at all. The bright green and yellow city buses are very unlike ones in Houston. Here, they are non-airconditioned, sparklingly clean, and actually have people riding them. The center of Schweinfurt is very pretty, with cobblestone streets and umbrella-covered vendors selling fruits and vegetables. Amy and Blake were done with their day at 5pm, so I caught a ride back home.
Believe it or not, these pigs are everywhere. Just like the cattle sculptures in the States, where artists are commissioned to decorate the sculpture with a theme.
This photo of the museum's cafe is a bit boring, but each table looked so pretty. With perfect, fancy sugar dispensers and roses placed in little italian grappa bottles.

You know I can't have an entry without mentioning food. Earier in the morning, I made Kraut Burgers. In the background is a bottle of fancy wine Amy and I shared the night before. And there are the little italian coffee-cookies that I keep raving about. Oh, and the beautiful crystal Amy said she scored for quite a deal in the Czech Republic, I think. The Kraut Burgers were not my best. I prefer the taste of the frozen dough, but this WAS my first attempt at homemade dough.

Hey Angela
I just bump into your blog by chance. My name is Javier Kafie, and I'm an student in Siegen, Germany. I studied in the States a few years and now I'm here, finishing a Bachelor in Literary , Cultural and Media Studies.
Hey, you're in one of Bavaria's most beautiful regions!! You really need to go to the different cities around you. I would definitely recommend Bamberg, Würzburg, Nürnberg and Bayreuth. You can reach them all by train.
I'll tell you the easiest way to get around: Buy a "Bayern ticket-single". With it you can use the whole train system in Bavaria for one day. Plus, Bamberg and Würzburg are very close to Schweinfurt (I've never been there, but I've heard that it's not as beautiful as Bamberg, for example). In every train station you'll find train schedules and information about the train system. It's really easy, you just have to go for it!
Hopefully you can get to do it. I know it takes some time until one gets the courage to go out, I've been there. If you need any other help send me an email at jckafie@hotmail.com.
Enjoy your stay in Schweinfurt and in Egypt. Javier Kafie
Thanks so much for the tips Javier. I took them and they have served me well! :)
